An effective product brief explains not only what will be made, but also who it is for and how it will be positioned in the target market. Technical feasibility can be assessed more reliably when the intended user, product format, expected volume, packaging approach and timing are considered together.
It is equally important to mark what has not yet been decided. This allows R&D, manufacturing, quality and commercial teams to separate assumptions from firm requirements and plan samples, quotations and approvals around measurable decision points.
